Reinforced concrete is where most structural design hours disappear. Slab systems, beam and column schedules, shear walls, staircases, plinth beams, water-retaining structures: each one is a design cycle, a check cycle and a detailing cycle. RIH Engineering delivers outsourced RCC structural design as a dedicated backend team for structural consultants in the UAE, the US and the wider Middle East. We produce the reinforced concrete design, the calculations and the drawings. You keep client ownership, engineering responsibility and approval authority.

What you get

  • Complete RCC design calculations for slabs, beams, columns, shear walls and staircases
  • Flat slab, one-way and two-way slab design with deflection and crack-width checks
  • Column and shear wall schedules with interaction diagram verification
  • Staircase, plinth beam, lintel and parapet design
  • Water tank, swimming pool and other water-retaining structure design
  • Structural design of RCC boundary and compound walls
  • Design basis reports written for authority submission and third-party review
  • General arrangement drawings and reinforcement layouts in AutoCAD

What we handle for you

RCC design work is skilled but highly repetitive. The same sequence runs on every project: build the model, apply loads and combinations, run the analysis, size the members, check deflection and crack width, iterate, then detail. On a mid-rise residential or commercial building that cycle absorbs 60 to 120 engineer-hours before a single drawing is issued.

We take the whole cycle. You send the architectural drawings, the soil report, the loading brief and your preferred code basis. We return the analysis model, the design calculations, the member schedules and the reinforcement drawings, formatted to your templates and your layer standards. Your senior engineers stop sizing beams and go back to client meetings, design reviews and approvals.

The cost of doing this in-house

Keeping RCC design in-house means paying senior engineer rates for work that is 70 percent procedural. A structural consultancy running three concurrent building projects typically burns 150 to 300 engineer-hours a month on reinforced concrete design and detailing alone. Apply your own loaded hourly rate to that and the number is uncomfortable.

The harder cost is capacity. When a tender lands, you cannot add RCC design capacity in a week. Recruiting and training a competent concrete designer runs three to six months. So you either turn the work away, or you take it and your delivery dates slip. Every project you decline is a client relationship a competitor picks up, and clients rarely come back once someone else is delivering for them reliably.

Why RIH Engineering is safe to try

Send us one building. We deliver the RCC design package, calculations and drawings, against an agreed date. You review it to your own standards. If it misses your bar, you tell us exactly what to change and we rework it at no cost. If it still misses, you do not send us the second one.

We work on a dedicated resource model: named engineers assigned to your account who learn your templates, your naming conventions and your design basis preferences. They become a predictable extension of your team, not an anonymous queue. RIH Engineering has delivered 6,500+ designs with 11+ years of EPC experience behind the team.

Our process

  1. You send architectural drawings, soil investigation report, loading brief and the governing code basis for the project
  2. We confirm the design basis in writing: codes, load combinations, material grades, exposure class and deflection limits, and you approve it before modelling starts
  3. Structural model built in STAAD.Pro or ETABS with the agreed geometry, supports and load cases
  4. Analysis run and results reviewed for stability, drift and member utilisation before any sizing begins
  5. Member design completed for slabs, beams, columns, shear walls and foundations, with deflection and crack-width checks
  6. Design calculations compiled into a design basis report suitable for authority submission and third-party review
  7. Reinforcement drawings and member schedules drafted in AutoCAD to your layer and title-block standards
  8. Package issued for your review, with a revision cycle included as standard

Tools and standards

Our RCC team works in STAAD.Pro and ETABS for analysis, RCDC for automated reinforced concrete detailing output, and AutoCAD for drawings. Design is delivered to ACI 318-19, BS EN (Eurocode 2), BS 8110 or IS 456 as your project requires.

For UAE projects we work to the Dubai Building Code basis, which aligns concrete design with ACI 318-19 and loading with ASCE 7-16, and to ADIBC for Abu Dhabi. We confirm the governing code in writing at design basis stage so there is no ambiguity at submission.

Client-preferred tools: Our team can be trained to use the tool preferred by the client. If your workflow depends on a specific platform, template or drafting standard, we adapt to it rather than force you into ours.
