The Dubai Building Code incorporates and replaces the separate building design regulations previously published by Dubai Municipality, DDA, Trakhees and DSOA, so a single basis now governs structural submissions across those authorities. It adopts US codes and standards for the structure, and BS EN for geotechnics.
Concrete design aligns with ACI 318-19. Wind and seismic loading, and robustness against disproportionate collapse, align with ASCE 7-16, using loading parameters optimised specifically for Dubai rather than generic values. Abu Dhabi projects follow ADIBC, which is based on the 2009 International Codes, so the two emirates run on different code vintages and a consultant working both is managing two bases at once.
